![]() ![]() There were a number of other brief Star Wars Celebration announcements from Walt Disney Imagineering that both impact Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge in addition to other areas of the resorts. Disney has stated that “characters will remain in their specific story and timeline and won't intersect with other characters or stories that would not be appropriate for them.” This work around works for me and is a way for the parks to bring in the popular new characters. Walt Disney Imagineering has promised that they will still do their part to ensure that the in-world experience is not completely ruined. A mischievous band of Ewoks or Jar Jar Binks anyone? I don't think that 95% of guests will make a distinction once this change is made and will only be glad that they could finally now run into their favorite characters roaming the parks. This has been one of the main critiques of the land since it opened – not enough classic Star Wars in addition to the newer aspects of the franchise. I am personally pleased to see the rigid rules of Galaxy's Edge relaxed a little bit so that we can see more of our favorite classic characters roaming the land. This logic is why we still haven't seen Grogu (Baby Yoda) and Mando appear in the land despite The Mandalorian show being the most popular Star Wars property in years. If Disney had stuck completely to this in-world logic they would not be able to add in these fan-favorite character pairings as they are largely off timeline from the canon of the current world. In the “correct” timeline for Galaxy's Edge, Darth Vader has already been killed. Previously, the land was completely in world for the most recent set of films which means guests see Kylo Ren and the new version of stormtroopers rather than Darth Vader and his Imperial Guard stalking through the land. This change marks a larger change to the way the land is being managed. Then, perhaps even more exciting, Mando and Grogu (Baby Yoda) from the Mandalorian will make their first appearances in the land later this year.
